Hello and how are ya? It’s Monday and that means blog time. Let’s get to it.
It’s been one of the best kinds of weekends…the three-day weekend. Here in Canada, we celebrate Victoria Day and that’s today! So yay!
I logged in to the site this afternoon and saw 165 comments waiting to be filtered. Wow. With so many comments, surely ONE of them must have been legit right? Nope. They were all spam. Not only that but many of them were LENGTHY spam where the same five emails just blitzed through a list of websites. Ugh. I really don’t get it.
This week will be the unveiling of the new mash-up theme. It’s one I’ve been sitting on for a while and finally decided to pull the trigger on. I hope you all find it fun.
I ordered two new games last week, both with a Star Wars flavor. Star Wars Carcassone and Star Wars Timeline. These are re-implementations of staple games with the Star Wars theme added in. They’re European releases, but Board Game Bliss (based in Canada) keeps European games in stock, so I was able to get them without having to worry about Euro conversion rates. I should get them this week and will talk about them more in detail soon.
A staple of the Youtube board game channels seems to be various Top 10 lists as well as Top 100 Games Of All Time lists, the latter of which are revised every year to keep up with new games coming out. I decided to try my hand at doing a Top 100 Games List. It turns out that with as many games as I’ve played, I’m nowhere near being able to compile one. I’ve definitely played more than 100 games, but to say that I have 100 favorites is a stretch. At a certain point I wasn’t really listing favorites anymore and just listing games I’ve played whether I really liked them or not. I decided to limit myself to a Top 40 and that seemed more meaningful. I added the caveat that I had to have played the game more than once for it to really be considered. There are games I’ve only played once that I really enjoyed, but I want to play them some more to see if they really stand up. Anyway…here’s my Top 40 Games.
