If you’ve been wondering where I’m at with certain projects, this week’s blog is for you!

Kerfuffle Shuffle

This project was mostly dead. After all the time I spent working on the game design, I came to the realization that the game was missing a strategic element to how you placed your attack cards in your battle sequence. As is it was, you just placed your cards wherever and hoped for the best. If you drew all high attack numbers you’d do well and if you drew all low numbers, there was very little you could do to change your fate.

Last week a stray idea hit me about chain combos. If I implemented bonuses for certain chains you could turn a weak attack into a much stronger attack. It made me rethink the whole game and maybe there is something there after all. I’m thinking about how to balance the bonuses so that a strong card can still have a chance to beat a tricked out combo.

The creative juices have started flowing again and I may eventually salvage the project.

Fun ‘n’ Fantasy Crossover

There’s some writer’s block going on.  I’ve done some layout work for the stuff I’ve written so far. If I weren’t so adamant about maintaining my lead on the Funnies, I could start drawing the pages I’ve laid out. I can only be seated for so long drawing before my arm (amongst other body parts) gets sore. Funnies and Mash-ups have priority.

Animus Wars

This project is dead and it’s not coming back. I plan on going back to Star Wars for mash-ups when I’m finished with my steampunk set. I started doing mash-ups in March 2012 but the turning point with regards to quality  I feel was the Wonderland set in June of that year. The early mash-ups are a little painful to look at now which is a shame because the early sets were of some of my favorite things (like Star Wars). I want to see what I can do with Star Wars now that I feel stronger as an artist. To further justify the set, I’ll be featuring some costumes from the other movies. Sorry, no gold bikinis….Cyran would not approve.

Age of Animus Storytelling Game

I’ll admit it! I’ve just been lazy here. I’ve started writing Ardebast journal entries again so that should kickstart more work on the game.

I didn’t really want to get my friends together in a basement during the summer but now that autumn is here, I’m thinking about organizing another session. You haven’t heard the last of Bunwick, Emeraldine Fiera, Raz, Wilhemina and Zouly.

Other projects

I have more than enough to keep me busy with the projects listed above. However, other things I’d like to work on are: more stories short or otherwise, the BIG board game, and a collection of the first two years of Funnies. Publicity-wise, I’d like to do something locally for Free Comic Book Day next year and maybe even Comic Con.

Okay, I’m feeling guilty now so I’d better stop talking about all the work I’m NOT doing. Have a good week y’all!
