Welcome back to the Wednesday Mash-ups. I’m a little late today, because I was working on the last piece for this week’s installment. Let’s not waste anymore time then shall we? As always, click to embiggen.
When the Muppets took Manhattan, they introduced the Muppet Babies to the world. It was a neat little sequence that in all honesty would probably have been forgotten if not for the cartoon that it spawned. The Muppet Babies were a staple of my Saturday morning viewing. Today, I continue my homage to that concept of “baby-fying” my characters.
First is Nektara. She really looks happy with her flute. This is my second-favorite piece of this set, though I have high hopes for my idea for Zoë next week.
Next is baby Cyran. There are two little challenges I enjoy when I do a new mash-up theme. The first is how to incorporate a wrench into Cyran’s design. I thought a rattle attachment was cute. The dancing wrench and hammer on his shirt came about because I didn’t want him to be wearing a plain t-shirt.
The other challenge I mentioned is how to hide Big Oonch’s eyes. I considered having him crying with his head leaning back (similar to the Shazam! piece in the DC Superheroes set in concept) but I liked the ol’ baby bonnet idea better even though it’s probably not a very inspired choice. Also, Happy > Sad.
So that’s it for this week. Next week should conclude our look at Li’l Animus
