From the logbook of Mouse Winger Zoë:
I met a Scaley today. Her name is Deema and she is not at all what I expected. Mice and lizard-folk rarely get along, but by all accounts Deema is not like most lizard-folk. She’s not like any folk I’ve ever met. She’s a little on the eccentric side. Some would say she’s bonkers.
For one thing, Deema has a strange way of talking. She always refers to herself by her name and uses a fur’s “name” more than is usual. I say “name” because Deema has a tendency to re-christen everyone she meets. Whether it’s just for fun or because she can’t be bothered learning their real names is unknown. She doesn’t seem to mean any malice by it. My new name is “Mouse Girl”. I’m going to try to teach her my real name, but I’m not holding out much hope.
Deema has the utmost affection for her adoptive father, Tomaw. He’s a wolf, if you can believe it. I don’t know the story behind that yet. I’ll have to ask Deema the next time I see her.
It would be easy to dismiss Deema as a crazy Scaley if not for her caring heart and her genius tinkering skills. I don’t know much about tinkers, but those who do have been more than impressed by her tinkers.
Deema seemed really impressed when she learned I was a member of the Mouse Wing. It made an impression on her normally short attention span. She asked me if she could fly with me on patrol someday. I didn’t have the heart to tell her that we didn’t have any birds big enough for her to fly. Maybe if I talked to an eagle though…
James’ Notes:
Deema will be the subject of the Monday Blog for June 18, 2012, so I won’t be adding any notes here. You can read the blog entry for more information on Deema.
