I didn’t have the best of Fridays. Part of it is work-related and not something I’ll get into in detail here. Suffice it to say not everybody has the same sense of humour. Then I had the brilliant idea to catch the late show, completely miscalculating how much time I had to get to the theatre before the show started. And then my phone died while I was on route so I couldn’t contact the person I was meeting there. So I got there over twenty minutes late for the start of the movie. Fortunately my friend had the common sense to go in without me and not scrap her evening. That would have made me feel even more guilty. I simply turned around and caught the next bus home. Two hours of bus-waiting-and-riding. Not super fun.
Having screwed up my Friday movie-watching plans I decided to triple down on movies on Saturday. I caught Ralph Breaks the Internet, Fantastic Beasts 2 and, the main reason I went to the movies this weekend, Robin Hood.
I’m a Robin Hood buff…a Hoodie? I’ll generally catch any new series or movie to see the new take and love to read Robin Hood stories. What I’d most like to see is a faithful retelling of the classic legend, but apparently that’s too boring, so Hollywood needs to jazz it up a bit, to varying degrees of success. Apparently there’s a Kevin Costner vehicle somewhere that exists but I couldn’t tell you because that movie does not exist in my universe (okay I kinda liked Little John and Alan Rickman as the Sheriff). I’ve been more forgiving of the other adaptations and this latest one, while not at all faithful or even realistic, was at least quite entertaining and interesting enough that it gets a positive grade from me: a solid B+. More than enough to say that I will watch it again.
In gaming news, we pulled out a win in game 3 of our Too Many Bones campaign. The tyrant fight was tough and we completely failed our first attempt because we couldn’t focus enough damage on the tyrant in the same round and he kept healing. Our second attempt we focused on clearing the board so that we could try to combine our efforts on the tyrant and that seemed to be the correct strategy. It also helps that he didn’t roll his healing ability nearly as much.
That’s about all that’s fit to print this week. Have a good seven and we’ll do this all again next Monday. Carja V.
