Hello and good day to you friend. I hope this Friday finds you well. It is time for a flashback dontcha think? Click on a pic to see it big.

Trap-Jaw was one of my favorite action figures that I never owned. The concept of having three different pieces of equipment that you could plug into his arm was pretty cool. I don’t know why I didn’t get him. I couldn’t find him maybe? I ended up getting Roboto who had the same gimmick, but just wasn’t as cool for some reason.

Here we have Cyran reprising the role of Trap-Jaw. Of course Cyran only has one piece of equipment he can plug in.

Here’s the comparison to the original piece. Back in 2012, I hadn’t started drawing Cyran’s legs in the mash-ups yet. I still had his tunic covering them up. It makes a big difference with what I can do with the character he’s portraying.

That’s all for this week. Another flashback next Friday!

Hello and good morning to you Flashback Fans. It’s Friday so let’s get to my favorite way to start the day. Click on a pic to see it big.

My memory of the Masters of the Universe toy line is that The Sorceress as she appeared in the cartoon wasn’t released until late in the line. I don’t even remember seeing her in stores. Was she a mail-in? In the comic series that accompanied the figures, I believe she first looked like a green Teela with the snake armor. That figure does look cool, but it wasn’t what I was used to from the cartoon.

Zoë returns as the Sorceress. I think I make this comment every time I draw a character with wings, but geez are feathers a pain to draw (and colour). I think they turned out well here, but not as good as some of the other winged Zoë’s I’ve done before.

Here’s a comparison to the original mash-up. I have a much better grasp on Zoë’s face now.

That’s all for this week. Have a great weekend and I hope to see you back next Friday for a new flashback!

Hello and welcome to the advent of the weekend. That’s right, it’s Flashback Friday. Let’s get to it. As always, click on a picture to see it enlarged.

Tri-Klops was another of my favorite villain figures even though there was no special action features. Being able to switch between three special-powered eyes was enough. He was one of the more clever villains as well, compared to Beast Man and Mer-Man who were kinda slow-witted. The green and orange scheme worked well together in my mind.

Here’s Red Rich as Tri-Klops. We have the red eye, the blue eye and the green eye. Wow, those colours are Rich’s colours. Talk about a coincidence!

Here’s the comparison to the original piece. We’ve got him looking in the opposite direction. The limbs make the biggest difference I’d say.

That’s all for this week. Have a great weekend and see you all next week for more fun!

Hello and good time part to you. It is that time of the week again so let us get to the fun, shall we?

I don’t know what it is about Mekaneck that I found so much fun. You twisted his waist and his neck extended. In elevating his head he could see farther away than others, making him a great scout. Spy, I don’t know. But it was the idea.

Big Oonch is Mekaneck. Last time, I cut and paste the head when I drew the neck extension. This time, I completely redrew the head so the dimensions aren’t quite the same.

Here’s the comparison to the original piece. Man…those arms.

And that’s all for this week. More Masters of the Universe next week.

It’s Friday morning, time to post a flashback up in this house! Ahem! Yes. Click on pictures. See them bigger. All that good stuff.

Beast Man is one of Skeletor’s most loyal minions. He has a mastery over beasts, from which he gets his name (not to mention a somewhat beast-like appearance). He had the added benefit of being molded in orange, which is my favorite colour, so he was one of my favorite figures even if he had no special features. In the cartoon, he was a dullard and never a real threat to He-Man. In the comics he was much more imposing.

Here’s Barnaby as Beast Bear. It’s Barnaby at his most fierce by gum!

Here’s the comparison to the original piece. Again, the original was decent, with mostly the shaky lines and spindly limbs dragging it down.

That’s it for this week. A new Master is revealed next Friday. Any guesses? Requests?
