Hello there and welcome back to another installment of “It’s Not Saturday Yet So I’m Not Late With the Mash-up Though I Was Totally Late With the Strip So You Got Me There”. Click on a picture to enlarge it.

I don’t have any interesting tidbits about Fisto. I never had the action figure and I didn’t care for the character. I was kinda scraping the bottom of the barrel when I chose him as a character to feature as a mash-up. There was a lot of reuse in the toy line, and Fisto at least looks different from other characters, so yay Fisto for that.

Here’s Chae as Fisto. I think the mash-up turned out well considering my dislike of the character overall.

There’s of course no comparison to an original to be had so that’s all for this week. Next week will be Chae’s villainous turn. See you next Friday for the reveal.

Hey there Top Men and Top Women. Glad to have you back for another flashback! Remember you can click on the pictures to see them enlarged.

Webstor had one of my favorite action features. He had a backpack that contained some kind of pulley system so when you pulled on the string from the bottom, he would climb up the length of the string. Really cool. He was a spider creature. I don’t remember that he ever got featured in the cartoon so his character was a little lacking other than just being the spider villain. Still, he was one of my favorite figures just because of the feature.

Zoë’s here as Webstor. She’s about to throw her grappling hook so she can scale a wall. Are the red eyes creepy? If she had more of a forehead, I would have more eyes to replicate the figure.

Here’s the comparison to the original mash-up. The original was my least favorite of the set. The idea behind the pose was good, but it just didn’t turn out the way I wanted. That’s why I went with a simpler pose this time around. It turned out SOOOOO much better.

That’s all for this week. It’s also the last Masters of the Universe mash-up. We have four all-new pieces coming up so Skitter and Chae can join in the fun. Any guesses as to which character’s they’ll be portraying? It’s two heroes and two villains.

Good time period! It’s time to mash things up, flashback style! Click on pictures to enlarge them!

Whiplash had an interesting shade of green. Other than that, I didn’t really care for him. His gimmick was that like every other Masters of the Universe figure, you could twist his waist and it would snap back only he had a long tail so he could knock other figures down with it when you did so.

Here’s Deema as Whiplash. It’s weird seeing her act so angry, right? She really got into the role.

Here’s the comparison to the original piece. Other than my shaky hand, I’d say this was a case where the original turned out pretty well.

That’s it for this week. Believe it or else, there are more Masters of the Universe mash-ups coming up!

Welcome to a special Saturday edition of Flashback Friday, also known as “Carja forgot Friday morning, got home way late from gaming, the site was down so he had to wait until Saturday morning to post” or the CFFMGHWLFGTSWDSHHTWUSMTP for short…it’s going to become a thing. Watch. In the meantime, remember to click on the images to get a close-up.

Teela. One of the three female characters from the original toy line (I wasn’t able to get any of them). The toy came with some pretty nifty looking snake-themed armor pieces that were dropped from the character in the cartoon. Her look in the show pretty much defines her now. She’s the adopted daughter of Man-at-Arms and biological daughter of the Sorceress (her biological father is at present unknown, but I wouldn’t put it past the current comic book line to explore that history someday). For the longest time, Teela is oblivious to the fact that Prince Adam is He-Man (a testament to his skill at playing a good-for-nothing). She does eventually find out in the aforementioned comic line, where she also learns of her heritage. Her character history is actually pretty interesting and more than the common toy line fare.

Sass is here to reprise the role of Teela. The pose is taken from the Teela statue from Pop Culture Shock and though she’s far from perfect, I’m proud of the way she turned out considering how hard it was to draw. I really had a lot of trouble with her lower body. I just couldn’t get the legs looking right. I eventually realized that the upper body positioning was off which made the legs look really off so I started over and finally managed to get it looking acceptable. This to say that I still struggle greatly with anatomy and posing. It occurs to me looking at it as I prepare to post that the tail is maybe a tad too long.

Here’s the comparison to the original mash-up. That original torso is really off and of course the spindly limbs detract from the action pose. The first mash-up is based on the toy while the new one is based on the cartoon. Since Teela’s and Evil-Lyn’s toys had the same body sculpt, I didn’t want the two mash-ups to look like each other (the same reason why the original Evil-Lyn mash-up was based on the Evil-Lyn from the reimagined toy line while the original Teela mash-up was based on the original Teela toy.)

That’s all for this week. We’ve got three more Masters flashbacks to go and then four new pieces before we move on to the next theme.

Hello and welcome to another Flashback Friday, the feature read by top women. TOP. Women. (I believe in keeping things even.)

Is Zodac a bad guy? His original action figure’s packaging listed him as an evil cosmic enforcer, but just about all of his appearances across various media had him acting as a neutral entity and they eventually ditched the “evil” tagline on later packaging. I needed to balance things out between the heroes and the villains so he’s on the bad guy side here. I didn’t much care for the action figure back in the day because I found the design a little boring. I dig the helmet today.

Not surprisingly, Big Oonch got the role of Zodac because he wears a helmet that covers his eyes. I think the helmet turned out really well here.

This was another situation where I ended up not liking the first sketch I drew and started over before I got to inking and colouring it. Here’s the first sketch. I was going for an action pose as though Oonch was about to fire his blaster, but meh. I like the more casual pose above much better.

Here’s the comparison to the original. I think the red pops more in the remake. The original is a askew because I was again going for that action-type pose and it was supposed to depict one foot being ahead of the other. It ended up looking like I drew it at an angle.

That’s all for this week. See you for more flashbacks next Friday.
